Thanks for all who attended! All members have voting rights. Amoungst plans for store expansion, and board elections, members also considered, and agreed to postpone, a proposed change to the Co-op’s Rules to allow for up to two Staff Representatives on the Board. Light refreshments were provided. Thanks to our Guest Speaker, Flavia Aarden-Kilger from Fair Trade Brokers. Congratulations and thanks to our new and re-elected board members: Anthony Abato, Graham Anderson, Reid Kaufmann, James McNish, Liz Vossen, and Analyse Weiler. Minutes are posted in the store.

The United Nations has declared 2012 as the International Year of Co-operatives; see www.ica.coop . The East End Food Co-op received affirmation from the City of Vancouver for an East End Food Co-op Day of recognition, to be formally recognized by the City and Mayor this year, perhaps during Co-op Week (October 14-20). Stay tuned! March 3 2012 marked our 37th year in business.
CCEC Credit Union features the East End Food Co-op on their website. They also feature EEFC in their April newsletter, Common Interest. Thanks!
Peru has been devastated by 30 years worth of rain falling in two weeks. The East End Food Co-op is donating 50 cents per mango sold to the Flood Relief Fund coordinated by Discovery Organics.
Thanks to all who joined us! We reviewed past, current, and projected financials for the store, and got feedback from our members on the future of the Co-op. We shared plans for a ramp renovation (image at top of page: click to enlarge) and bicycle rack, updated the Rules of the Co-op, and created a new “Community Partner” membership type. This membership type is now available for registered Charities, Non-profit Societies, and Co-operatives for a 10% discount on purchases- please ask the Manager for an application.
Bill Bargeman and Brian Egan were elected as Directors, serving partial terms. We collected email addresses from members who would like updates on special events, and future meetings. If you’d like to be added to the email list, please contact us!

East End Food Co-op was proud to donate towards a Christmas Dinner for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, serving 450 women and children in the DTES. We worked with Discovery Organics to donate 650 pounds of organic carrots, broccoli, and potatoes. Click for additional items needed & ways you can help.
